Is Acupuncture Helpful in Losing Weight?
Acupuncture is a form of ancient Chinese treatment now being used with modification and it can be quite helpful in losing weight. It is a method in which sterile flexible needles are inserted in some areas of the body e.g. ear, mouth, skin above lungs etc. The way of needle insertion is such that not much pain is caused. As far as weight gain is concerned acupuncturist believes that our body has different energy pathways called Meridians and according to them one of the reasons of weight gain is the development of imbalances in these meridians. Through acupuncture the imbalances of these areas can be treated. Other than this acupuncture is also very helpful in improving digestion, enhancing rate of metabolism, reducing stress and lessen appetite which in turn facilitate weight loss.
It is recommended to consult a professional acupuncturist for acupuncture treatment as he can specify many health problems just by observing the wrist pulse rate. Right wrist shows spleen and stomach and left wrist shows kidney and gall bladder performances. Overall six to ten treatments are required after which a person can lose 2 to 4 pounds a week. It remains effective for six months or may be till one year. If its results diminish and the similar old hunger patterns return a few more acupuncture treatments can be help. People who have gone through this treatment reported that it is also very helpful in eliminating migraine, insomnia and reduce the addiction for narcotics. The mechanism on which acupuncture works to help reduce weight is not yet known clearly. But as per the evidences we can say that by working on trigger point's theory acupuncture help reduce weight. Every point has its own importance. Mouth as acupuncture point is very beneficial for those who eats or smokes a lot. Stomach is the best point for acupuncture especially for those people who eat even after being full. If you love chocolates and sweets it is recommended to select skin above lungs as a treatment point. Other points can be kidney for balancing water release, thyroid to enhance metabolism and spleen for improving sugar imbalances. Other points for treatment can be Endocrine, adrenal and ovary. So acupuncturist by analyzing the customer's history, eating patterns and lifestyle will decide which could be the best trigger point for him / her to lose weight and achieve weight loss goals more efficiently. Acupuncture is helpful in losing weight but some people are very reluctant to go for this method rather they prefer other alternatives like diet supplement or extensive exercise etc. No doubt there are some side effects of acupuncture like vertigo, nausea and headache but the results are great. To achieve even better results it is necessary to do exercise and go for a healthy and proper diet along with acupuncture treatment. As you also know that all of us are different and thus react differently to different treatments so once you undergo this treatment only then you can decide whether acupuncture is helpful for you in losing weight or not. |
