Smoking And Weight Loss - Smoking cigarette to lose weight is a bad idea.
If you have started smoking because you think it can help you lose weight, you are on the wrong road. Smoking is an unhealthy habit, which can pose a serious risk to health, especially lung and heart health. Everyone knows this.

Although evidence seems to suggest that smoking can reduce appetite and increase the metabolic rate, its harmful effects on human health are by far greater than its weight-loss promoting effects. So, if you want to lose weight and stay healthy, don’t start smoking. There are many other healthy effective ways to lose weight. By combining diet, exercise and dietary supplements you can achieve great and long-lasting results, without placing your health at risk.

What is true is that quitting smoking often results in weight gain. After quitting smoking both appetite and metabolism return to normal, which can lead to eating more and burning less. In addition, people who quit smoking often compensate the lack of cigarettes by snacking, which can add considerably to the daily calorie count. But, don’t worry: weight gain after quitting smoking is not inevitable. You just need to follow some simple tips to avoid gaining some weight:

1) Get plenty of exercise: walking, jogging, swimming and bicycling are the most frequently recommended exercises to lose or maintain weight. However exercise does not necessarily mean sport. Any physical activity can be considered as exercise, including gardening, walking instead of driving (whenever possible), taking the stairs instead of the lift, as well as washing floors or windows. All these are physical activities that can help you burn more calories and maintain your weight.

2) Eat lots of fruit and vegetables: not only fruit and vegetables are low in calories, but they are also excellent sources of fiber (which helps maintain weight) and antioxidant substances that can help detoxify the body from the many harmful substances contained in smoke that have been accumulated in the body for a long time.

3) Choose healthy low-calorie snacks: snacking is almost inevitable after quitting smoking. To avoid weight gain, choose healthy snacks such as raw fruit and vegetables, instead of chips and sweets. To keep your mouth busy, you can also use sugarless mints or gums. This can help you stay off cigarettes, without adding unnecessary calories to your daily diet.

In any case, remember that even you gain some weight after quitting smoking, this is not a so serious problem as lung cancer and heart disease are. The last are irreversible, weight gain is not.
