Liposuction For Weight Loss: Important things to know before undergoing the procedure
A fat suction (or Liposuction) method used by many obese people as a last resort for removing excess fats from their bodies is known as liposuction, also known as lipectomy or lipoplasty. If you are in the process of losing weight and have set some weight loss goals for yourself you will surely agree that losing weight requires commitment and patience. It is not possible to shed extra pounds with a blink of eye. Therefore one must be persistent enough to wait for the results. Liposuction is not recommended for everyone but only for those who have been trying to lose weight by all the other methods but could not get any results and now their bulkiness and obese body is becoming life threatening for them.
Before undergoing liposuction one must be well aware of the procedure and its pros and cons. Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which excess fat is removed with the help of a cannula, a tube (mostly straw shaped) which is meant for fat suction. There are many types of liposuction but whatever the type is all methods can remove only a specific amount of fat generally 10-15 pounds whereas if you go for removal of fat more than this specified figure it can cause serious and harmful effects. In all of the liposuction methods saline water is used to separate muscle from fat and its quantity will decide the type of liposuction method. For example less saline water is used in traditional liposuction and extra saline water is used in super wet liposuction. This saline water helps easy movement of cannula tube therefore making fat cells breakage easy. The most popular and widely used liposuction is super wet liposuction. To go about this surgery, anesthesia is used to numb the patient and epinephrine ensures lesser blood loss. There are certain precautions suggested by the surgeon to the patient according to his health status and type of liposuction method before undergoing the operation. General precautions includes avoid drinking or smoking or taking any antibiotic; some patients may be even asked to keep fast before operation. After the surgery the patients with less elastic skins may need to undergo tummy tucking which may cause scars on the skin. As far as the recovery is concerned it is totally dependent upon the patient's own health. But mostly it doesn't take more than 2 months. There are certain side effects of liposuction like bleeding, scars, feeling of scraped internal organs etc but this will go away or blur with time. Nevertheless liposuction is an expensive method and requires the patient to act on the surgeon's instructions after the surgery. The patient needs to be very careful in his/her eating and exercising patterns and follow strict instructions to remain healthy. If you have finally decided to go for the liposuction you must be very careful in the selection of surgeon. You need to take reviews from those who have already been through all the procedure to ensure that you have made the right decision and selected the right surgeon. Before undergoing operation talk clearly to your surgeon about any doubts you may have so as to ensure post-surgery satisfaction.
