Exercise Alone Might Not Be Enough for Overweight Teens
We tell our kids what they can do to stay healthy. We tell them to eat right. We tell them to get off their butts and Exercise. We even tell them to turn off the television. Think of all the things that we tell our children. As of recently, the news flash that our teens and children are becoming obese has hit the headlines all over the nation. What many are finding as we get teens that are already obese to make the change is that some things just aren't enough for those who are already obese.
What used to be suggested of teens of getting up and exercise might only help them lose the dietary fat. The rest of the fat they might not be able to burn away with just Exercise. That is what researchers are now telling us. The way they have found this out is that they have done the studies. They took twenty eight teens. Some of them were of a normal weight. Others were obese. They had them do an assortment of Exercises for twelve weeks. After those twelve weeks, the teens that were obese had shown no signs of any change in weight loss. Those who were of a normal weight showed no change at all in that area as well which indicates something. The only change that they did see of those teens that were of a normal weight was that it did help their metabolism. Now some kids might think hey that means I don't have to exercise. While exercise does not help with losing weight, it has been proven to help with a number of other conditions that run with obesity. For instance, it helps with the body tolerating the insulin which reduces the onset of Type 2 diabetes. This is great news as Type 2 diabetes claims a number of children. Though they didn't reduce the deep layer fat like scientists always believed that exercise did. They did find that it helped kids to reduce some of the fat in the abdomen. Kids always carry the most fat in this area. This area is the area that surrounds all the major organs. If there is pressure on these organs, then other complications such as diabetes or things of that nature could be on the rise in them. While exercise is shown to help burn some of the calories, there isn't enough to make an outside difference. That is what makes Exercise not the key to losing weight. Obese teens are encouraged to keep at exorcising as they learn to work with metabolism, exorcising can help with this. Those who exercised and were obese found that the aerobic Exercise helps the metabolism at rest. Something else they learned is that the type of exercise and the intensity of the type of exercise matters too. It matters depending on the gender. It was found that those teenage girls who did strength training had a better outcome at metabolism than when they used other forms of Exercise. This is something you need to know as well so that you can have the teen do the appropriate Exercises. Consistency is also important. It only worked for those women who did this on a regular routine. Many researchers are finding many misconceptions that they have had about exorcising come to surface. All of this makes teens wonder what they can do. Many health care professionals say that if your teens weight is an issue, you meet with a doctor and talk it over with them as they stay updated on the latest things to try.
