Obesity can be a major factor for many health related problems in women
It is expected that a healthy female should have normal monthly cycles in her reproductive life. Since most of the females are little more sensitive in different aspects of life, it is seen that some time the healthy rhythm of normal cycle gets disturbed. There can be many reasons for this disturbance but obesity plays a central role in many cases. The out come may be long lasting and the problem can interfere with child bearing capacity in female. The outcome becomes more deleterious here and the affected female may land up with complete frustration. It not only damages the physical body but affects very negatively to her psychology. At the same, time it is also not true that all obese females show a positive abnormality in cycle but the incidence is likely to be increased to the tune of 10% in obese females.

In case of underweight, the abnormal monthly cycle shows its presence in the form of less bleeding. The opposite is probable, in case of obesity. It is generally manifested with heavy bout of bleeding. It is also seen that the period may persist for prolonged time per month. The normal blood loss in menstruation is 35-40gm/ cycle/ month on an average. If this levels goes beyond, there is a possibility that, anemia will develop in the afflicted female. Obesity favors abnormally high circulation of many hormones in female body. Sometimes this abnormality results in manifestations of some male characteristics in the females. It includes appearance of beard, falling of hair from head, and shrill or hoarse voice. Many times, these problems become prominent features in obese, post menopausal women. Excess fat in the body exerts abnormal pressure on the ovary. As a result, ovary may face difficulty in releasing the ovum on normal basis. This may entail further infertility problem.

Even during pregnancy also, the obese women are more likely to show pregnancy induced hypertension or pregnancy induced diabetes. The child in side the mother is equally affected and may carry the risk through out the life. In such case, still birth or some congenital anomaly may be a common set back.. Additionally, the women during pregnancy are more liable to retain excess water and salt in the body. Obesity in addition, aggravates the condition. Kidney becomes less active to complete the gloomy situation. As a result, urine outflow becomes less than normal. All most all the parts of the body get affected. Some times, finger ring may have to be removed from the finger of the suffering mother. The nervous system starts showing abnormal functions and the female may have severe lethargy and drowsiness and lastly, she can enter in coma stage. The baby in side the mother is the silent sufferer and in case of nerve disorder, the brain of the child is the first organ, which is likely to be affected negatively.

The consequences of obesity are several and weight reduction is the primary prevention to tackle these complications of obesity. Underweight is the main problem of the starving population and on the contrary, overweight is the main complication in the affluent society with overabundance of food. The wise person selects the balanced road with a watchful eye.
