Importance of a Healthy Lifestyle
Being ancient is not all that is enough for wisdom in the present knowledge savvy world. Grilled by experimentations, scorched by newer and better ideas, long held beliefs hit walls and make way for a more accurate explanation that fits in as if it had always been there. The latest addition to this is the ancient medical art of inculpating weight.
Long since some apocryphal article lifted midway of its research caught every one’s attention, fitness has been quantized in the terms of weight. A person falling in the category of being overweight has become an archetype of being unhealthy, unfit and unlikely to lead a long content life. Indolence and being laid back are easily attributed for the extra flab without much thought to at least consider some concrete vital parameters in order to make such solemn inferences. Much to the respite of many, studies in recent times have concluded results that suggest that perceptions often tend to lag behind reality. Being overweight is not where the comparison ends. In fact, that is where it actually begins. A person weighing less might not be the only requisite for him to be healthy and safe from diseases concerning lifestyle. Evidences of fitness in a body are blood pressure, aerobic capacity, cholesterol, sugar levels in blood etcetera. Being lean and not maintaining these vitals through exercising and nutritious food can get as bad as being overweight. Being overweight instead and still not maintaining the above mentioned vitals is actually as bad as it could get. The best deal is perhaps to stay fit, regardless of the figure that the weighing machine slams in your face every time you ask for your weight. Keeping the body in a healthy routine, consistently exercising all along, thoughtfully selecting every meal you ingest is what all is required from one, and the body assumes its perfect shape eventually. Genetics and hormones might play to affect the resultant body contours seen from outside, but the healthy exercise and food would never fail you on the fitness test. As seen through studies, the risk of premature death in people who are obese and unfit can be offset to a third in those who are obese but fit. Physical fitness is not a result of just the body weight, and can be improved regardless of the age and lifestyle. But this does not allow an excuse for complacence to those who might feel comfortable with the overweight tag. Being lazy and inactive just adds to the misery for both lean and fat. Maintain a routine and involve yourself in activities of your interest. Swimming, jogging, brisk walking, aerobics, cycling, sports and other activities such as these improve the cardiovascular performance of the body and maintain the metabolism rate. Regular sessions of strenuous exercise throughout a week can improve the body fitness and decimate risk of developing diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis or other anomalies that are believed to be the result of obesity. Even if long and regular strenuous sessions are impossible to attain, start by short brisk walks and simple stretching to adapt the body. Do not just count pounds, improve the lifestyle gradually and a healthier body would emerge eventually. |

RE: Importance of a Healthy Lifestyle
As a 51 yr old man who recently underwent a double hemilaminectomy ( they removed bone from the inner side of two lumbar vertebrae ) if I weren't healthy and fit I would have a 6 month to 1 yr recovery time. I was lightly shoveling snow 2 days after surgery. In the last 14 months I went from weighing 266.5 ( on Jan 17th 2009 ) with sleep apnea, constant lower back pain ( over 7 yrs of constant pain ) and profuse sweating just from walking up a flight of stairs to 189.2 lbs today, I work out 6 days a week doing 5 days an hour a day on an elliptical machine and 3 days each upper and lower body workouts for an hour at a time, and I haven't used my apnea machine since April 2009. I'm now working toward being a certified personal trainer, which at 51 is quite an accomplishment according to all who know me. They tell me I am very inspiring.
In addition to all of this I have reduced health care costs because I don't get sick, I eat very healthy and I encourage others to do likewise. If that isn't enough to convince you I don't know what else to say. Samsung UN55C8000 55-Inch |

I managed to lose weight 3 times so far, and every time I lost over 50 pounds, but I felt into the yo-yo effect and now I'm more busy than before and I'm not motivated enough because everything I try it is not working.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Proper nutrition, physical fitness, emotional wellness, and prevention are all a part of creating a healthy lifestyle, an all round healthy environment where body can flourish. Stress is the state of increased arousal necessary for a human to defend themselves at a time of danger. Exercise is the most sensible way to remove stress. Sleep is an important way of reducing stress. Thanks for sharing such an interesting views.

RE: Importance of a Healthy Lifestyle
Any action you take be it a lifestyle change or opening a door ultimately starts in the mind. You have to think about anything before you do it. The subject of weight loss is a collection of mental processes. Diets or weight loss plans tell you what to eat or what to do physically. This is the aspect that leads to failure when they are no longer affective. They tend not to tell you HOW to eat.
The mind should come first in any program. I don't mean perspective, motivation or positive thinking. They are difficult to maintain because they tend not to address the inner part of the mind. I got to the core of my mind and lost 100 pounds in less than four months. It will never come back. |

RE: Importance of a Healthy Lifestyle
One of the biggest problems in America today is lack of activity. We know it's good for us but avoid it like the plague either because we're used to being sedentary or afraid that exercise has to be vigorous to be worth our time. The truth is, movement is movement and the more you do, the healthier you'll be. Even moderate activities like chores, gardening and walking can make a difference.
