7 Ways To Get Back On Track Towards Your Weight Loss Goals
How to get back on weight loss track?

As a new year begins countless individuals are filled with good intentions. However, each year nearly every person seems to make a New Year’s resolution that after a few short weeks is given up on and discarded. Just because you may have run into some bumps and bruises over these first couple weeks of the new year does not mean that your New Year’s resolution is unattainable. If you can learn from your mistakes and grow towards your goal you can still realize your goals this year. Follow the following 7 tips to get yourself back on track and marching once again towards your New Years weight loss goal.

1. Clarify your purpose. Why was your goal so important to you in the first place? Does it really matter if your goal is ever reached? Why must you attain your goal? Ask yourself challenging questions that will provoke deep processing of your goals. It is critical that you know your purpose and clearly understand why you are doing what you are doing. Clarify the value of your goal and resolve to fight for it with everything that you’ve got!

2. Leave the past in the past! There is nothing that you can do to change your past. It is behind you. Mistakes have been made and it is now your job to learn from them. Don’t let your past dictate your future. Instead, set your sights on your future and your goals. Resolve to make a change and to live your life differently from how you lived it in the past. Create the life that you have dreamed of and passionately desired.

3. Forgive yourself. Each and every day, regardless of our intentions, we make mistakes. We are imperfect and we are guaranteed to have failures along the way. Recognize your failures and acknowledge your mistakes. Apologize to yourself and to others that you have hurt along the way. Once you have apologized, you must ask for and accept forgiveness. Without forgiveness of yourself and forgiveness from others you will be held back by your previous mistakes. Learn from your mistakes and choose to respond differently in the future.

4. Recognize that it is not to late. One of the worst mistakes that you can make is to throw in the towel when you make a small mistake. If you have had a bad couple of minutes, difficult hour, rough day, or even a terrible week it still does not mean that your previous efforts were not worthwhile. When you take steps away from your goal stop yourself as quickly as possible, turn yourself around, and march quickly back towards your goal again. It is never too late to make a change.

5. Build your support system. If you have made minimal steps towards your goals it may be due to having a limited support network. Think about key individuals, community resources, and other avenues of support that could help you stay on track in reaching your goals. Explore how you can add to your support network. Through building a strong support network you will be more likely able to stay on track and reach your goals.

6. Clear your mind. In order to get yourself back on track you must get rid of all of the negative messages that you play in your mind about yourself on a weekly, daily, or even minute by minute basis. You must get rid of the lies that you have held on to about yourself. Clear your mind of all negativity and instead focus on your strengths and all of your positive assets. Focus on your goals and how you are going to reach them through making small positive decisions each and every day. One of those small positive decisions that is going to get you to reach your goals is unbelieving the lies that you or others have told you about yourself.

7. Create a blank slate. Declare today your starting point. Make today the beginning of your new story. Nothing that has happened in the past has to have any impact on what happens from this point forward. Leave your excuses, your heartache, your disappointment behind and instead focus hard on your goals.

Roadblocks will present themselves along the path to your goals. Prepare yourself for the stumbling blocks that will arise so that you are able to fly past them when they pop up!
