Two Ways Your Environment Can Help You Achieve Your Weight Loss And Health Goals
Your home may be set up in a way that does not support your weight loss goals. As a result, it is important to identify the pitfalls of your home that are not supportive to your weight loss, health, and fitness goals. Once the problem areas are identified then you can begin to make changes towards them. As you begin to evaluate your living spaces begin to think about the ways that your life could be improved through applying the following two ideas to your living spaces.
1. Colors Actually Matter! Believe it or not but the colors on the walls of your home affect your health. Recent studies have found that the colors yellow, red, and orange all have been shown to stimulate appetites in individuals (Michele Cheplic). These colors not only stimulate appetites in individuals when they are painted on the walls, but also when they are present on other items in a room and even when they are on dishes. Interestingly, studies have seemed to indicate that the colors blue and purple appear to be appetite suppressants (Michele Cheplic). Additionally, in studies the color green appears to promote a healthy lifestyle and a nutritious diet. Understanding how colors can influence our appetites is valuable because it can help you set up your home in a way that can support your health goals. If weight loss is your goal try to incorporate the colors blue and purple in your kitchen. Even if you just incorporate these colors in subtle ways you will be helping to set yourself up for success. If your goal is to lead a fit and healthy lifestyle then try to incorporate green in your home whenever possible. Find accent pieces in your kitchen and throughout your house where you can pull the color green into your living space. Through filling your home with colors that support your goals you can help your subconscious also strive for your goals. 2. De-clutter! Clutter and chaos stir up anxiety, frustration, and worry in individuals. All of these emotions have been linked to triggering emotional eating. Try to clean up your living space through removing all of the clutter and messes that you see. Take a day and decide to clean things up. Even if it may seem overwhelming, make a plan to tackle your messes. Identify areas where you can begin to clean things up. If multiple rooms in your home need substantial cleaning and organizing then decide to tack a room a day, or a room a weekend, or even a room a week. Find a method and plan that can work for you. Then get started. It may seem that the state of your home is unrelated to your health and eating habits. However, this is not the case. Your home is where you live and the feelings that your home induces in you filter all through the rest of your life. Set yourself up for success through creating a healthy and positive environment for you to live your life in. In the same way that you should de-clutter and clean your home you should also tackle cleaning your vehicle and your office. Create a clean supportive environment for yourself in every place that you spend time. Get out your vacuum, a broom, some dust rags, and garbage bags and start cleaning your way to a better life! We spend a great deal of time in our homes and our homes speak volumes about the people that we are. If you want to be healthy and if you want to get rid of your excess weight then it is time to take control not only of your physical body and mind, but also of the physical environment that you live in. Set yourself up for success through creating calming, clean, organized, and healthy environments for you to spend your time in. Have fun with these ideas and get creative about how you can create an environment that is truly supportive of your weight loss and health goals. Personalize your projects and make them work for you and your family. References Michele Cheplic. Want to lose weight? http://home.families.com/blog/want-to-lo...chen-blue. |
