Gaining Less Weight for Obese Pregnant Women
Bearing children is hard to do even when you are in sound mind, body, and spirit. That is what all researchers say. But it's even harder on women who are obese before they get pregnant. Why is this?

The body already goes through pain as the fetus grows and develops. You deal with swollen ankles. You deal with a sore back due to the weight that you are bearing. This is true already before an obese woman gets pregnant. Much of her pain that she has will double when she carries a child for nine long months.

There are other things as well that doctor's worry about. There are things that you are prone to getting during pregnancy that other women aren't as likely to get. These include gestational diabetes as well as preeclampsia.

That's not to mention all the things that obese women are known to have after pregnancy. After pregnancy, you aren't only upping the chances of having things that could affect you, but it could affect that little bundle of joy. First of all, after birth when an obese woman gives birth, she will find it even harder than the average sized woman to lose the weight that was gained. The last thing that sets a trend is that you will likely have obese children.

So, how much is too much weight? Well, it all depends on your body mass index. If you are thirty pounds over your body mass index are suggested that they aren't to gain more than ten pounds during pregnancy.

While you want to gain weight as this is how the fetus gets its meals, you don't want to gain too little either or then you run the chance of having premature labor. It is said that the average sized woman who is pregnant should gain anywhere between eleven to twenty pounds.

This has been such a problem as of lately. They say it will only get worse as time goes on and more and more obese women are giving birth to children. Right now, as it stands about two thirds of women are obese in the USA. What used to be somewhat known has now been researched. The researchers have said that it took them a while to find that happy medium. This is where your child doesn't run so much of the risk of being obese, but also, you don't run the risk of your child being born premature. If you stick to this and talk to your doctor about steps you can take, things will be just right in the end and both mom and baby will be very happy.

There are more studies being done. As we mentioned, this continues to be a problem that keeps growing and the fetus are sometimes affected. There are some women who have to give birth early on because the fetus is just too big. We will keep you informed when more results and more suggestions are given. Until then, make use of this information.
