What to Expect after Bariatric Surgery
There are some people who are thinking that enough is enough. They want to get rid of the fat that they have had to deal with. The way they are going to go about doing this is by getting surgery. You might be one of those people. You have discussed this with your doctor and have felt that this is your only alternative. What do you need to know about after the surgery? There is quite a bit. Here is what you who have bariatric surgery can expect.

Due to the strain on the lungs after your surgery you need to take good care of yourself. You are highly susceptible to getting pneumonia which can really harm your body if you get. About five percent of people have gotten infections after they have had this surgery done. That isn't a lot but doctors feel that this is way too many. What happens is that the excess fat that there is puts pressure on the chest cavity. The best way to ensure that you don't get infections is to limit going out and limit your visitors. Make sure you clean the wound as well. Then, make sure people who are sick do not come around you following surgery.

Others might get an ulcer. This is quite normal when you have had this bypass surgery done on the gastric system. You might get this where the small intestines are attached to one another. Again, about five percent actually get this. Yet, about fifteen percent develop a hernia in the same area due to the excess weight.

Due to the fact that the body has a hard time absorbing some of the vitamins and minerals, you might experience some illness. Some get anemia due to not enough B12. Some get kidney stones due to the calcium. Others get bone disease due to the Vitamin D they don't get.

But for those of you who are saying okay, that's what could happen. Now, what does actually happen in fact? There are a few things that one can expect after this form of surgery. You might find that you can't drink at much water so you might experience some dehydration. Just keep drinking as much as you can. Those who have had surgery feel tired.

You might also find that your body aches. It will almost feel as though you have the flu. We know that this sucks. Dry skin is also normal following this surgery. Hair thinning can occur due to some of the lack of vitamins that you have. This is almost normal.

Yet, some people find emotional things that they have to deal with. Some have mood changes that they weren't quite expecting. Others might find that their spouse or family have a hard time adjusting. All this is perfectly normal, but it still needs to be considered. So, there you have it. A glimpse of what you can expect. Some of it you might be thinking I thought that would occur while others might make you rethink some and reevaluate your decision
