Skinny People can also have High Cholesterol
Many people who look at skinny people think that skinny people are always healthy. If you are obese, one misconception that you might have about skinny people is that they are always healthy. You might think that the things that you have to worry about are things that skinny people don’t have to worry about. One of those misconceptions might be that cholesterol might never be high for a person who is skinny. Well, be glad you didn’t go on a game show and answer that way. This is why it’s called a misconception.
While a person might not look overweight on the outside, on the inside is a whole different story. Never knock a skinny person for being skinny. Cholesterol can affect skinny people just as much as it affects a person who is overweight. That’s right. The studies have been found that skinny people can have high cholesterol. Why is this so? You might wonder how this can be true. There are a number of reasons in which a skinny person’s cholesterol might be high. If they don’t exercise enough but still eat a ton. That could be one reason. Another thing that can affect a person's cholesterol level might be if they use butter or margarine. Why is this? If you use butter, you are just increasing your cholesterol. Those who need to lower theirs nee to stick to margarine. Another reason that it's easier for thin people to not know that they have high cholesterol is because they don’t think about what they consume. If you take in a large amount of fat and so forth you might not think about it. Thin people have a hard time gaining weight in most cases. That is why they don’t’ think about it. Most of them don’t’ think about it until the doctor brings it to their attention. There are other things that can help lower cholesterol, but again thin people don’t stop to think about these. If you eat more bran and oatmeal, this can help lower your cholesterol. There are other foods as well. The more fats and trans fatty acids the more likely your cholesterol will increase. Another thing that is true is since a person might be naturally skinny, they might not exercise like they should. They sit around more. When they do this, this can hinder a person’s cholesterol. Many do not stop to think about that. While we’re on the topic of skinny people and this cholesterol issue, there are still more factors. There are some people who are prone to it. Due to the foods they eat as we mentioned above. Due to the lack of exercise as already discussed. Then there is hereditary which we all know that we cannot help. Foods from an animal source can increase it as well. We almost forgot about that one. We know that skinny people love dairy and more and those all come from animals. Therefore, it is no wonder that their cholesterol might be high. Now, you have it. You stand corrected. Never think that some things that happen to you if you are overweight can’t happen to skinny people either because it can. |
