When it is not possible to deliver the child by normal and natural delivery i.e. vaginal delivery, a surgical delivery process is used called as a cesarean section, or C-section. A cesarean section is very painful and major surgery. It takes months to recover the body and you should slowly but surely begin your activity and exercise. Understanding how to loss weight after a C-section can help you regain your old figure.

It is a common fear that having a c-section means the end of flat stomach but this is simply not true. It is a fact that after having a Caesarean section you can lose your weight and it is likely to regain your pre-pregnancy size. C-section surgery calls for cutting your stomach muscles and they will heal back after a certain time period passes. You just need to have self-confidence that it can be done.

After confidence you must be patient to give your surgery time to heal after a c-section. C-section is major surgery and you have to believe the fact that you can not wear your size three jeans home from the hospital. You have to wait for your c-section scar to heal sufficient and you have to consume healthy food to be able to start exercise. Try to ignore all the junk food and start consuming healthy meals. Although you may not find time to cook fresh food provided reason that you have to take care of your new born baby, getting away from fast foods and cookies will help to recover fast. And it is reality that you feel healthier and have more energy if you cook yourself healthy meals.

As breastfeeding is especially important therefore you should drink additional fluids for the first few months following your C-section. Drink extra water, at least ten to thirteen glasses in a day; this will enhance your weight loss efforts. This extra liquid will also help you with better milk production during breastfeeding. It has been found that the mothers who breastfeed their new-born tend to lose more weight than the mothers who prefer bottle feeding. Breastfeeding helps a mother lose 500 calories in a day; this figure is enough to encourage mothers’ breastfeed their kids.

After few weeks you should be ready to begin with a light exercise program depending upon your health. Start with a light exercise such as walking or a little aerobics then you can increase the frequency and intensity of exercise slowly to support your weight loss efforts. It may take few months for the muscles in your abdomen to entirely recover from your C-section. Exercising rapidly can damage your inner stitches or causes bleeding therefore it is important to take your doctor's advice before starting any exercise routine. Generally, doctors suggest waiting until about 3 months after C-section. Begin with small sets and short repetitions in each session and step by step add more. Most probably, you will be uncomfortable at first but this will become normal with time. In sum, by consuming healthy foods, drinking more fluids and exercising as much as you can you will be able to get back your previous shape very soon.
