Smoking And Your Appetite - Smoking Can Trigger Hunger
One of the zillion ways by which a 21st century human can try to lose weight is through suppressing the appetite. As it could nip the weight problem in the very roots because all the pounds you put on find their source in a delicious doughnut, a sizzling hot pizza or a chilled fizzy cola, this way is seen by many as quick and easy. Despite every possible effort made by us to leash our taste buds, no known human has been able to keep himself from at least being tempted by good food.

Once it is decided to go for appetite suppressants, there are several medicines and suppressants in the market that a weight watcher could get his hands on. But to the surprise of many, smoking cigarettes too has been linked to the appetite. The nicotine present in the cigarettes has been found to have effects on the mechanism of the body that triggers the sensation of hunger.

Nicotine has been known to interfere in the metabolism rate of the body. What nicotine could also do is to interfere with the hormone release in the body. The hormone that keeps a check on the glucose levels in our blood is insulin. Nicotine if interferes with the secretion of insulin in the body, then the blood stream may not be scanned for sugar concentration by the insulin. This could disturb the balance of sugar in your body and ultimately your appetite. As the body determines your need for food by the sugar it could lay it hands on, in the wake of disturbed balance, appetite is bound to be tipped towards one side. Much to the respite of smokers, smoking helps the weight watchers in this collusion of fighting persistent hunger by abusing nicotine.

When this is contrasted with the condition of non smokers, the difference becomes visible. A person who does not smoke would face the body instructions to reach for food when it feels like having something to increase the sugar level. The release of hunger chemicals generally leads to a sensation of an empty stomach and there you go for the platter. But many smokers resort to a puff rather than a quick snack that could have possibly left them with more pounds to worry about. This usually diverts the attention from eating and one could actually avoid the binging that one indulges in merely out of boredom.

Although, some consider losing weight through smoking as chicanery, since the habit of smoking can invite troubles that could belittle a problem such as weight loss. Smoking has been widely held culpable for serious diseases such as cancer. It must be kept in mind, that by abusing the effects of any drug you could quickly overshadow the tiny points that were working for you. Suppressing the appetite persistently and keeping the body under an illusion of being full could eventually land you into a stalemate, where continuing the drug would worsen the situation and quitting it suddenly would be potentially dangerous too. The answer to this paradox is simply moderation. In case you find yourself unable to quit it altogether, at least make an attempt to reduce your dependence. Follow the rules and you could use the habit to leash your gastronomic fantasies.
