Are You Addicted To Food - Ways To Control Your Eating Behavior
Food addiction is basically when you completely lose control over eating and you just eat whatever comes in front of you. Food becomes obsession and you start developing extreme craving for food. Your consumption of food goes higher and higher and your body starts taking food more than it needs. You become addicted to food and when you notice that you are eating even when you are not hungry then you know that you become a food addict. This eating habit becomes more frequent when you are depressed or feeling low.

Now once you have identified this problem you must start finding ways to control your behavior. Although you find it very difficult but once you are avid and eager about overcoming your addiction your way to success becomes easier. Initially you might fail or get disappointed but gradually you will overcome your addiction.

Food addiction is not restricted to any age group. It can occur at any age and to any gender. General perception is that only obese people are addicted to food but this is not correct. Even under-weighted and normal-weighted people can have this addiction affecting a person's physiological as well as psychological health. For obese people this addiction may cause low self esteem and they feel both physically as well as mentally sluggish unable to take active part in daily routine activities. Whereas under-weighted and normal-weighted people are always in the fear of gaining weight and might undergo a state of anorexia due to which they either stop eating food to maintain their weight or might not feel pleasure in eating leaving them dissatisfied.

There are many ways to control this addiction; the most important first step towards stop being addicted to food is admitting the problem. You should be optimistic and courageous enough to admit that you are obsessed with food, and then comes the second step of recognizing the trigger foods. It's not necessary that only eating fat rich food items is causing the problem. Some people get triggered by sugary foods, chocolates or may be cheese rich foods. After identifying the trigger food the next step is to look for the solution to get rid of the addiction.
The best way is to consult a doctor to get a proper medical advice so that you can move to practical application. A counselor or a therapist can guide you better according to your health status. The effort required from your part is to bring discipline to your eating patterns and gradually reducing the amount of food that causes you eat more. You can't stop all at once, it requires time. Add some fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. One of the best ways to keep your body sound is exercise. It brings activeness and helps you remain fit and healthy. Your goal should be realistic. Keep eating healthy food items and slowly detach yourself from unhealthy items. Following these rules will help you control your food addiction and live a healthy life.
