Pregnant Women and Swollen Feet Problems
If being a woman isn't hard enough, we women have to carry the child as well. Some of us women are heavy weight and have to stand on our feet all day as it is. So, we know swollen feet. Yet, there is nothing worse than when a pregnant woman has swollen feet as her options are limited due to the fetus growing in her. So, how is a pregnant woman supposed to deal with it? Here are a few suggestions.

The first suggestion that the pros who have gone through nine months of swollen feet have said that they have gotten by with just getting their legs and feet working. What does this mean? Your body will swell. This is due to the fact that it's harder during pregnancy to get blood pumping to the feet. This is really true as a woman is standing still. So, in order to work your feet, one might consider taking a walk or even swimming as this have both been known to help with reducing the swelling.

Another trick they all say works well is the good old fashioned power of gravity. Gravity is great to help anything that is swollen. The best way to do this is to recline and put your feet up on a pillow or two pillows for that. This is a good thing after a hard day at work where you are on your feet all day.

The other thing is to treat your feet. We women are all about treating ourselves. We love to go to the movies and such. So, why not pamper your feet and get a pedicure? Yes, ladies this is actually doctor approved so you can tell your husband it is helping with the baby. Make a girls day of it and go get them all pampered. If you don't' have the money to pay for one, and then put that husband of yours to good use. He should have to pay just as much as you do. Take our word that is what some of us women have done in past years. It gives you two some bonding time and gives him something he knows you will love and it helps with the baby. But do expect some griping on his part.

Then, last but not least, make sure you wear the right shoes. There are some women who go through pregnancy on heels. Not only is that dangerous because what if you fall. It's also downright crazy. High heels are the last thing that you want to be wearing. Take our word for it. A pregnant woman who is going to be on her feet quite a bit needs shoes that cushions the feet to ease the muscles. Your muscles will already be worked by the extra weight; you don't need to give yourself any more extra discomfort. Mark our word, you will regret it.

There you have it. You are conquering the swollen feet when you are pregnant. Life is full of thrills. What is better is that you can have your thrills with your husband and look what you get in the end. It doesn't get much better than this.

Tips to help soothe swollen feet

There are a number of things that you can do to ease swollen feet during pregnancy and prevent further foot problems and these include:

* Take short breaks during the day and elevate your feet to relieve the pressure
* Stretch and flex your feet when you are sitting down
* Wear shoes that fit properly and avoid wearing high-heeled or tight shoes while you are pregnancy as they will constrict circulation
* Exercise regularly to ensure optimum health – practice walking every day
* Shop for shoes towards the end of the day as feet tend to swell as the day progresses
* Measure your feet often throughout your pregnancy as they will change in size
* If you suffer from over-pronation, use custom-made inserts in your shoes
* Wear compression hosiery to keep the pressure from fluids down
* Wear seamless socks that do not constrict circulation
* Eat healthy, well balanced meals and avoid foods high in salt that can cause water retention
* Drink plenty of water to keep the body hydrated, reduce swelling and improve circulation
* Have a relaxing foot massage to soothe swollen feet and stimulate circulation
