Cheat Days And Weight Loss?
Cheat days or cheat meals are one of the best ways to lose weight as you get a chance to eat your favorite high calorie foods and you can still lose weight. It is important to be done in a right way by not eating overboard and for shorter time. For instance, you cannot expect to lose weight by eating cheat meals every day. However, you can plan a cheat day once a week to satisfy your high calorie food cravings by relishing your sweet tooth. You can stick back to your routine diet and work out sessions after a cheat day with all kinds of cheat meals. Although it sounds good it really works and when done in moderation it does not interfere with your weight loss regime.

Cheat day works well in a different way as it makes your system to assume that you have more number of calories than needed and your system begins to fire the excess of calories that you consume by not conserving excess food. It works best on performing regular work out sessions other than cheat day. In addition, you can treat yourself by giving three cheat meals per week. In this way, you are dieting and exercising regularly by eating only three cheat meals per week instead of eating heavy cheat meals all together at once on a cheat day.

The main idea behind feasting on cheat day is to remind your system that it is not in starvation mode and it need not attempt to store calories in excess due to fat deprivation as it occurs on strict VLCD’s, crash diets and other low carb diets. Hence, your system increases the rate of metabolism by firing on excess of fat. Therefore, your metabolism gets adjusted for a short period of time. However make sure that you are exercising regularly and do not consume more calories that your system gains much of your calorie balance in a week and finally results in weight gain. In fact, cheat days will benefit you psychologically by a satisfaction that you do not have food restrictions. Furthermore, cheat day makes you feel good however you must get back on your routine diet and exercises when you feel heavy, bloated and tired. After satisfying yourself with your favorite foods you will be excited to kick start with healthy eating habits and lead an active life style.

Cheat meals work on a different concept for weight loss. When you are restricted from eating your favorite foods, then you will naturally develop desperateness to eat it when you are given a chance. In addition, cheat meal helps in tricking your metabolism because your body cannot predict when you are going to consume extra calories again.

You will be benefitted by minding these simple tips when you are cheating on your diet.

1. Avoid overeating
On your cheat day, you can eat any food of your choice and it is definitely not as much as you can. Make sure that you don't overeat on every cheat day because you will gain weight no matter which ever diet or food you may follow for weight loss. On the other hand, you need not bother if you just overeat once a month as it will not interfere with your weight loss.

2. Don’t cheat when you are closer to lose last remaining pounds
You must be extremely strict with your diet as you get closer to your weight loss goal as it basically gets harder and takes time to lose your last remaining pounds. There are chances of hitting a weight loss plateau during this time and it is advised not to mess with your metabolism. Hence, you cannot cheat when you are closer to achieve your weight loss goal as it is quite hard to get rid of stubborn abdominal fat.

3. Eat high protein foods
Prefer to have protein foods instead of simplified carbs as these are unhealthy which will increase food cravings and get easily stored as fat in your body. In contrary, proteins can suppress your appetite and increase your metabolism even though unhealthy proteins may be consumed in moderation. Hence, if you have planned your cheat day or cheat meal avoid bad carbs which will slow down your metabolism.

Sounds interesting. I often have cravings when I diet (I suppose it's normal, everyone does) and having a cheat day would actually allow me to lose some of the frustration. It would definitely help with my motivation. Thank you for sharing, this is definitely something worth trying.
