Ways that People Deal with Weight Discrimination
If you are overweight, you know the trial and tribulations that come with this. It’s hard on a person. That is for sure. You are picked on and looked down at. People think you are lazy. They do not recognize that losing weight is challenging and that each day you are faced with the harsh reality that people don’t see you as overweight. They see you as fat.

Some overweight people are told this directly to their face. Others might not be told this, but shown this in a number of ways by people. These might be people that they know and love. Others might just be pure strangers. So, how are these people discriminated against? There are a number of ways.

For some, they aren’t invited to family functions. They are the joke of the family. The family might find themselves too good for them. There are a number of ways that families prove how they feel.

Some overweight people are asked not to join groups because of their weight. They might not have seating big enough to accommodate them and in a way that is discriminating. This is due to the fact that severe obesity in which we are talking about is a health issue.

Then, there are some who are not given jobs because of this. They are asked to go through hoops if they do get a job with some companies. That is how employers view them. They view them the way that insurance companies view them. So, how do people deal with it? There are a number of ways they do so.

Some fight. They go to who they have to to get the treatment that they deserve. Some have been denied service or given poor service at businesses. They have learned you don’t go to the manager; you go to the higher up.

There have been some that sue businesses in which they have applied to that have made them jump through the hoops. They have said that there are no legal grounds as they are healthy to dismiss a person from the opportunity of a job. They have also gotten some compensation due to their pain and suffering due to this.

Then there are some. They take it all. They do nothing. They just sit back and tolerate it. They don’t get the job. They are talked down to. They let the families shut them out. The situation might be different, but the people are the same. They just don’t have the will to fight. They think that because they are fat that they deserve that treatment. This is how people deal with it.

When it comes to a person and their weight, some people use this as their motivation to lose the weight. They get tired of the talk and the rude actions of others. That is enough to get them to do the things that they didn’t think that they had the heart to do. They join the gym, they join a weight loss program. They apply to television shows that you as Americans watch. There are two things to do. Either fight or stay silent.
