What to do and not to do while exercising?

At times it happens that we become so motivated to look slim and thin and men might want to look all muscular and tough that we tend to overdo the exercising and the gym routine. Although exercising is suggested for weight loss and maintaining a good body, yet like they say “Excess of everything is bad” too much exercising is also not good for you.

You need to keep a balance that you need to maintain. You should not be laid-back about your health and at the same time do not become obsessive about it either. The side effects of becoming obsessive about your weight loss and exercise can affect you both mentally and physically. I’ll share some examples on how becoming over obsessive can be harmful for you.

Firstly one may become anorexic or bulimic fussing over what they eat. It has been observed that once people start getting motivated towards losing weight and become too particular about it they stop eating altogether and are afraid that they will become fat if they eat anything. On the other hand they eat and then they throw up the food on purpose out of the fear of gaining weight.

One more issue that people face is sleeping disorder. They lose their sleep and find it difficult to sleep. Too much exercise can end up making a person insomniac.

You may feel physical pain when you workout excessively. It has been noted that people often develop pain in their joints, heels and muscles once they overdo exercise. They also end up getting back pain due to excessive working out. If you are a beginner you need not worry if your muscles feel stiff and you have pain in your joints as your body is getting used to the new routine and is not in the habit of vigorous exercise but at times you may feel pain other than the time you exercise or after that and that is the time you need to check if you are not overdoing it. If you are experiencing severe pain in your muscles or joints it is sign that you need to take your workout a bit slow. The purpose of working out is to make you fit not make you unwell. If you experience any kind of pain it is better to slow your pace. Here again I will stress upon the fact that you are not going to quit working out instead slow yourself down. Don’t do the same workout over and over again because a time comes when your body gets stuck and stops responding to the workout. Make sure that you increase your tempo and bring a change in the workout so that your muscles can get into shape.

Once in the gym you need to make sure that you take help from the instructor as without their help you won’t be able to exercise properly and can harm yourself. The reason why there are people at the gym is to guide you properly. These people are trained especially to help you workout. If you plan on using the weight machines make sure you have the machine fit according to your requirements. Your trainer or instructor at the gym will be able to show you.

You first need to warm up and then start lifting weights. You need to stretch yourself out stretch your muscles, this will warm up your tissues and hence you’ll be able to work out better. Here again I would advise you to follow what your trainer tells you, keep in mind he is a certified trained person who will take you towards your goal.

Secondly you also need to keep in mind that once you start the workout you need not start lifting weights right away. You need to see your strength before selecting the weights you choose; there is no point in breaking your bones or damaging your ligaments while selecting heavy weights. It is not something unusual for a person who has been bench pressing 100 pounds on the first workout to be able to lift 130 or 140 after two months of working out at the gym. What happens is that the muscles still are not that strong enough to bear such weight your brain tells you to lift the weight but your tendons are not strong enough to be able to lift that much . It’s wise not to increase the weights that you are lifting till you are advised to do so by your trainer.

As the warm up is an important part to start your workout similarly you need to cool down after the workout ends. Not only does this process slows down your heartbeat it relaxes your whole body. It normalizes your breathing. Engaging in a vigorous activity usually results in a rushed blood circulation throughout the body. When you cool down or perform cooling down exercises you bring your blood circulation at a normal speed. If you don’t cool down you might feel dizzy or might even faint.

You can either do light spot jogging or you can walk on the treadmill for five minutes. You can also stretch out letting your muscles relax. Cooling down your body before you head off to the showers is essential if you don’t want to get sick.

Following these tips you will see yourself embracing a healthy life style.
